May 17, 2007: Transportation, Energy And Waste

This was the first show on our new, bi-weekly summer schedule. Carol talked with Lynda Harvey from Natural Resources Canada about efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from highway trucking. This segment includes an audio clip from Mark Dalton: SmartDriver, a novel that combines lessons on fuel efficiency with a story of crime and intrigue!

In this week’s InDigestion, Nate looks at pork production and related waste issues. He guides us through the history of pork, from the earliest domestication of the pig to some of today’s large-scale pork operations.

The Science Moment sings! Jess and friends perform a light-hearted and original song about the Large Hadron Collider.

Unfortunately we did not record two segments that were broadcast live – Brittany’s environmental news, and Paul’s summary of highlights from the Green Energy and Transportation Show. Sorry!
