Is publicly funded research available to the public? On this show Dr. Harald Bauder from Ryerson University discussed the academic publishing industry with Carol Hunsberger. They talked about the challenges that come with a system where the distribution of knowledge is controlled by a few publishing companies, as well as some opportunities to make progressive changes. ACME Journal is an example of one alternative: an open-access journal.
