Henry Hawkins: Currently in 4th year, majoring in Geography and Anthropology. He obtained a Diploma in Communications Media: Television Broadcasting from Mohawk College, making the transition to radio in University. Interests are in human geography and social issues, renewable energy, and a wide range of cultural issues stemming from double majors in two complimentary, yet very different, academic fields.

Carol Hunsberger: A PhD student in Geography and Political Economy, Carol is studying the politics of biofuel production among small farmers in Kenya. She holds a Master of Environmental Studies degree from the University of Waterloo and a B.Sc. in Environmental Sciences from the University of Guelph. Carol’s interests include environmental issues, international development, Africa, public participation in decision making and the communication of science.

Robyn Penney: Fourth year Environmental Studies student with a minor in Technology, Society and Environment, also holding AutoCAD certification from Algonquin College. Robyn’s main interests are in green building design for retrofitting (renovating, revitalisation) historic buildings, advancing technology-risk issues and peoples’ construction of their space/place identity. Robyn’s future academic goal is to obtain a Masters of Design in Strategic Foresight and Innovation at OCAD.

Matt Street: Carleton Alumni with a Master’s in Geography. Also holds a BA in Geography and Environmental Studies and Global Studies from Wilfred Laurier University. Water was the common element to his University studies, focusing on water scarcity and the potential for conflict in his undergrad, and looking at how public participation can influence water resource management in his graduate thesis. Currently living and working in Ottawa, Matt is interested in greening homes, lawns and gardens, human geography and the urban environment.

John Wall: PhD student in DGES, MSc in Rural Planning and Development, University of Guelph 1999, BA in Canadian Studies, 1992. Interests are in the human-environment interface, especially related to conservation planning and endangered species. John’s work over the years has focused on community economics, environment and development. You can find his website here.
